(FF)’s solid attachment to objects and forms catalyzes the embodiment of remembering and reimagining to unfold four branches of anthropology which including the biological, archaeological Linguistic. She deeply engages with the transformation of materials into carriers of floating ephemeral memories, challenging the public to perceive beyond conventions, social preconceptions, the limits of geography, and technological influences by experimenting with the deliberate disassociation and recontextualization of objects and methodology – a process that invites a dialogue between the internal self and the external physics within the society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this Installation, the plastic material in this work is dominant: they were pet bottles. A year ago, my first day of arrival in Japan, I started to collect each one after I drank up and broke them into three pieces. Only the main body part from the pet bottle was used to experiment. I repeatedly did this for a year turning myself as a machine exhausting myself with the touch and sound of plastic. On one side the process of collecting and managing the plastic and the other side I used them as a musical instrument as attempt to remove the flat meaning of everyday object. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover an interesting ongoing alignment with Deleuze’s philosophical explorations of repetition in my research is crucial for me to understand the relationship between objects and space in the social aspect. At the same time, navigating and negotiating the spaces between physical matter and the intangibility of memory, it\u2019s an embodiment of Bergson’s ideas of “mati\u00e8re et m\u00e9moire”. The combination of these elements open up a sensory rather than analytical engagement with the focus of its immediacy rather than through the veil of interpretation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ff (Ye Feng) is an artist, researcher, and vinyl DJ from Hong Kong whose diverse practice includes sculpture, oil on canvas, soundscape, and mixed media installations. Her work is deeply influenced by philosophical notions of repetition and memory, particularly inspired by Gilles Deleuze’s explorations Skillfully bridging the gap between the concrete and the insubstantial, she employs Henri Bergson’s concept of “matter and memory” to encourage viewers to engage with her work through direct sensory experience, rather than through preconceived analytical interpretations. She graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and is currently enrolled in the MFA program in Global Art Practice at Tokyo University of the Arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
