<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concept of this work is the relativity between reality and imagination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we see heartbreaking events such as wars and disasters on the news every day, we hear songs like “Imagine” by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, “Hell You Talmbout” from David Byrne’s film “American Utopia” (Janelle Mon\u00e1e’s cover) came to mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the many messages of love and peace being sent to the world, conflicts still persist. We came up with this concept based on the idea that in a world like this, humans need to use their imagination to make efforts to change reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because people come from different cultures and backgrounds, they can perceive the same reality in different contexts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other words, each person perceives reality differently based on their imagination and experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also means that imaginations differ based on realities with relatively different cultures and backgrounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this work, a ready-made toy pistol (a metaphor for conflicts such as war) and a food sample apple (a metaphor for peace) are placed in hand-woven bags and hung randomly on a ready-made hanger rack. By using plastic cord as the material for hand-knitted bags, the texture resembles that of ready-made bags, but each bag has an uneven, unique shape that is unique to hand-knitted bags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This visually emphasizes the relativity between reality and imagination by contrasting the natural element of warmth of hand-knitting with the artificial element of plastic material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also expresses that the choices people make and the thoughts they have vary depending on their individual culture, environment, and experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not only the reality is different, but the imagination is also different, leading to different perspectives and interpretations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my imaginary world (utopia), there are no pistols for people to fight over, and there are plenty of delicious apples to make people smile. However, I believe that this is because I was born in Japan and live in a peaceful environment. If the environment were different, my imaginary world (utopia) would probably be different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I pray for a peaceful world where people all over the world choose apples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
