MONSTER Exhibition 2023 in San Francisco

MONSTER Exhibition in San Francisco
The MONSTER Exhibition is an art project centered around the theme of “Kaiju” (MONSTER).

In Japan, while there is a belief in gods residing in mountains, seas, winds, plants, houses, and everything else, there is also a sense of dreadful entities associated with nature and all things, giving birth to “Kaiju” (MONSTER). The MONSTER Exhibition began in the aftermath of 3.11, using the metaphor of the tsunami that engulfed everything as the theme of “Kaiju” (MONSTER).

Since then, given the continued occurrence of large-scale natural disasters both domestically and internationally after 3.11, the project has continued its theme and charitable efforts, evolving into a new art project.

The interpretation of “Kaiju” (MONSTER) is left to the artists. Having a unique context within Japan, “Kaiju” (MONSTER) sparks the imagination of artists. To fully express that imagination, there are no restrictions on genres, encompassing fields such as film, painting, sculpture, graphics, games, ikebana (flower arrangement), and architecture.
